Please help all members of the OAMB by signing up for one of the following committees today:
Ambassador Committee will be comprised of specially appointed or volunteer members who have a strong connection or tie to a specific industry trade group or association. For example, we need a strong Ambassador to the Statewide Realtors® Association, as well as to the two metro associations. It is time to formalize our association with the MBA, OBA, Homebuilders, ALTA, OLTA, APMW, and numerous others we recognize as being a “part of the solution”. These special members/Ambassadors will attend meetings and represent the OAMB at their functions. We will share information and news with each other in order to broaden our collective scope and ability to serve the public. We anticipate a need for 15 – 20 Ambassadors statewide.
The Budget Committee will be our in-house financial watchdog team. They will be charged with the responsibility to perform at least semi annual audits of our financial records. The Budget Committee will also present an annual Budget for the review and consideration of the Board of Directors. 3 – 5 members.
The Convention Committee is actually comprised of a central committee and several sub-committees. There are numerous facets and aspects of this committee: site selection; golf tournament; awards; trade show booths; sponsorships; food & beverage, etc. The OAMB is very fortunate to currently have 2 experienced event planners already working very hard to put an awesome 2005 event together. They need your help!
The Education Committee was formed to provide NAMB and DOCC sanctioned training and continuing education. The original cadre of members has changed and we need serious participants who will pledge to serve for years to come. Education is the future, and the future of this committee is in your hands.
The Governor’s Advisory Board was created in the Mortgage Broker legislation that is part of the Oklahoma State Statutes. There are several members, mostly selected by the Governor, but there are positions filled by the OAMB. This group meets quarterly in the offices of the DOCC. If you have an interest, plan to attend the January meeting contact: Janice Hendricks, Business Manager, Dept. of Consumer Credit 4545 N. Lincoln Blvd., Suite 104, Oklahoma City, OK 73105, 405/522-4664 , [email protected] for details and meeting time.
The OAMB Grievance Committee – Your Board of Directors made history when they added this crucial committee to our organizational table. We now have a true grievance process that can be used to remove bad faith brokers from among us. This Committee is comprised of at least two and possibly three Grievance Panels which will have 3 members each. A Reviewing Committee, also comprised of 3 members, and the actual grievance committee which will have 5 – 7 members. Not all – in fact – very few of these participants will be OAMB members. We will seek candidates from the legal community, legislative members and consumer advocates to help with this important work.
The Legislative Committee – The 2005 Oklahoma Legislative Session promises to break new ground and present numerous opportunities to all. With all the new faces at the capital staying involved and making our positive and professional objectives known to these freshmen legislators is more important now than in years past. This Committee is most active during the Fall and Spring, but there are matters to address throughout the year. Meet our lobbyists, the Milner Group and take part in writing Oklahoma history.
Membership Committee – Are you a people person? Can you motivate others to action? Are you an Account Executive for a lender that does business in Oklahoma? Are you a Broker or Supervised lender who sees the importance and value of membership? If you answered yes to any of these questions, perhaps your interests lead you to be part of the Membership Committee. Chapter respective Membership committees are in the formulative stage. Membership contest are being planned, and the sky is the limit in terms of the potential number of members waiting to be asked to join.
Mortgage Industry Summit Committee, in years past the concept of this Summit was to bring together mortgage industry professionals from all walks of life. We sought to seek out common goals and objectives and to strike out against bad faith players that give all of us a black eye. This year preliminary plans are being made to prepare for a 2 State meeting, to be held in Hot Springs, Arkansas possibly in April. Let us have you sentiments and feedback about this opportunity.
PAC Committee, the OAMB PAC is actually completely separate from the OAMB. It is incorporated and run by its own Board of Directors and has its own Treasury and Treasurer. The concept of this group is to provide seed money to important members of the House and Senate, provide one-on-one meetings with elected officials and to promote an ongoing rapport-building effort with all our elected officials. Are you related to a an elected official? Did you serve on a campaign committee? Then perhaps this yet another good team for you to join?
Way & Means Committee – this team is footloose and fancy free. First organized two years ago this committee works with lenders, vendors, advertisers, etc to obtain sponsorships and door prizes for Chapter meetings and other events.
Website Committee – wanted: techies and geeks. Keeping the OAMB website updated is not a huge undertaking, but it does require regular attention and updating. We are also seeking someone to help maintain the email list, to keep it fresh, active and alive with accurate addresses. Having a good updated email list is a vital part of our ability to communicate properly with members and non-members. If you are interested in serving, please contact A’kos
